PSO BRAVO!

Cello Masterclass

Joshua Roman by Hayley Young 14 - CopyPrinceton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) continues its masterclass partnership with Westminster Conservatory of Music, the community music school of Westminster College of the Arts of Rider University, with a PSO BRAVO! masterclass featuring cellist and composer Joshua Roman.

Mr. Roman will guide students from area schools on artistry and technique as they perform in this public coaching session. The masterclass will be held in Hillman Performance Hall on the campus of Westminster Choir College.

Observation of the cello masterclass is open to the public and free with ticketed reservation.

Bernhard Romberg – Sonata in E Minor, I. Allegro non troppo

Kevin has been playing the cello since the fourth grade. Kevin’s teacher, Suzanne Dicker, has been encouraging Kevin to perform at many nursing homes and concerts. Kevin is a member of the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey and his school orchestra.

David Popper – Hungarian Rhapsody, Op. 68

Crosby plays in the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey Symphonic Orchestra and high school string ensemble. He has participated in the Central Jersey Music Educators Association Region II Orchestra, Point CounterPoint chamber music camp, and Techne Music Festival.

Joseph Haydn – Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major, III. Allegro molto

Grace is a senior in high school who started playing the cello in seventh grade after switching over from the violin. She is a member of her school’s chamber orchestra as well as the New Jersey All-State Orchestra, and has been playing piano for over 10 years.

Joseph Haydn – Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major, I. Allegro moderato

Jaime has been playing cello since the age of 5. He has played in the New Jersey Youth Symphony, as well as the New Jersey Regional and All-State Orchestras. He is presently a cello coach at the New Jersey Youth Symphony Summer Camp. As a cello performance/music education major at Rutgers Mason Gross, he studies with Jonathan Spitz and plays in the Rutgers Symphony Orchestra.
