The Barber of Seville
The centerpiece of this year's Festival is Gioachino Rossini's brilliant opera buffa in two acts with an Italian libretto by Cesare Sterbini. The libretto is based on Pierre Beaumarchais's French comedy The Barber of Seville. The opera is a comic masterpiece and a popular work in the opera repertoire. This new production with cubist set design offers a refreshing take on this classic tale featuring one of opera's iconic characters – Figaro.
